New idea....

So I've been playing with cases/covers for ipads, etc since we got one for Xmas.  I think I've finally got it down.  This one was made for my friend Claudia for her playbook.  What do you think?

For a snowy day...

For a snowy day in mid-march its been a pretty good one! Some good news health-wise for mr. Man, productive day at work, yummy smelling supper in the oven and I and my etsy shop have been featured on a lovely blog!  If you have a moment please go visit Sunshine

Another lovely thing is that I've managed to keep my fabric cupboard neat and tidy for four whole days!  This is what it looked like on Saturday after 4 hours of folding.... And today!

Water everywhere!

And not in a good way!  Sorry, no pretty pictures tonight, maybe this weekend!

Here's what I mean by water.....

Yes, that would be my leaky back porch....

So I posted this picture over on facebook about two weeks ago with the question, "What am I"... if you look  a couple of posts below you'll see the finished project but I took a better picture for the facebook reveal so I thought I'd add it here too!

This was a really fun project, it started out as an "I wonder if this would work idea" and kind of took on a life of it's own.  I'm obsessed with fabric wrapped clothesline baskets, bowls and bags at the moment but I wanted to try incorporating the technique with more traditional quilting.  So, I made a wrapped clothesline rectangular panel and quilted two rectangles of coordinating material, and cut them to shape for the sides of the bag.  I added inside pockets and then used more clothesline to define the shape of the size panels.  I had been thinking I could just zig-zag stitch the three pieces together but it didn't work the way I wanted to I ended up doing the actual bag construction by hand.  It went pretty quickly and turned out to be amazingly strong and sturdy.  I think my favorite thing about it is that it will stand up by itself - easy to load up and empty and find things inside!

WIP Wednesday

Now what?

Actually, I know where I'm going, I'm seeing a coiled bag coming out of this fabric selection.  Only another 30 feet or so of wrapping clothesline to go and then I can start coiling and stitching!  Hopefully I'll have the finished product ready by the end of the weekend and then I can start the new quilted bag I have in my head!  Cross your fingers that it will work.....

Busy couple of days coming up, meeting with my Pathfinder group tomorrow night and then a large amount of housework over the weekend - Mom is coming to visit next week and we're going to our annual quilt retreat on the 17th for two and a half days of stitching, eating, laughing, talking and a bit of sleep.  I can't wait, only 9 more sleeps to go!

And finally, I'm linking to WIP Wednesday!

great UFO day....

I got so much done at UFO this weekend, it's so relaxing that the time just flies by.  I finished up two new bowls for the shop and managed to get one posted tonight.  I also had a brainwave for a new purse/tote bag design.... but first I have some other projects to finish!  Here's one that I finished last night with some final handstitching.....

I've been so lazy this week....

Nothing for WIP Wednesday, only one new item on Etsy, no sales and I spent most of today on the couch surfing the internet..... Well, after about an hour and a half cleaning up snow!

I did get an early B'day present today though - Staples has a sale on blackberry playbooks, 16G for $200. John asked if I'd like one since we spend half our time passing the iPad back and forth.... Of course I said yes! The funny thing is I'm on the iPad now since John is busy playing with the playbook.

I will be back tomorrow with some new things though, I've got about four things halfway finished and I'd like to get at least a couple done. Maybe if I promise to post some pictures I'll actually get off the couch and into the studio.

Well, that's annoying!

Had a post all written and I lost it! Phooey!

Ah well, such is life! Had a good productive day - a few hours at UFO with the guild crowd, and then about two hours running errands for my Etsy shop since I've made a couple of sales I had to restock some supplies and shipping materials. I've been using recycled boxes for now but I'm going to run out soon, maybe I need to buy some more shoes - just for the boxes of course!

Made a quick easy supper - chicken fajitas, relatively healthy and really delicious. Then some more work on new pieces for the shop while we watch tv. On demand tv is awesome, we're watching The Wire finally - we seem to find all the great shows once they're finished. At least we're caught up on Game of Thrones, can't wait for season 2!

No pictures today, I promise there will be something interesting to see next time!
