achoo! sniffle... pout

as you can probably tell from the title of this post - I've got a cold, yech. In the better interests of not spreading it around I stayed home today. So far I've managed to keep up with work email, edit some new photos for Etsy and have 2 short (rather involuntary) naps over my computer. John will be home shortly for lunch with some orange juice and soup for me - isn't he a sweetie?

I had intended for this to be a more interesting post with some work in progress photos of my next bag/basket but the germs have intervened! This will give you a small idea of what I'm up to though!

at least now I can link to WIP Wednesday!

Thanks to my friend Holly for the introduction to The Needle and Thread Network and their W.I.P. Wednesday link up, I can see more time disappearing visiting blogs! Tonight's plan, play radio Bingo and then explore Etsy for some great stuff for a treasury post.

oops!

Days of the week are so confusing!!

The holidays have been wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable but of course, must come to an end - so back to work for me today! A good day, busy tidying up some odds and ends and home on time for supper and a relaxing Monday evening with John with a good book or a tv show.... except, well, yesterday was Monday which means it's Tuesday, the first Tuesday of the month, quilt guild night and I missed it!!!! Figuring it out at 9:30pm doesn't help much either!!!!

So I'll do a short show and tell here!

First, a preview of the most recent project for my Etsy shop

Second, a yarn bowl, maybe for Etsy, maybe somewhere else....

and third, a gift for my sister-in-law (yup, I'm really bad at getting things in the mail for Christmas but her birthday is only a month away!)

and another thing!

I've now got a facebook fan page set up for quilted chaos for all my friends on facebook to keep up with what I'm doing!

Since I have a couple of extra days off work for the holidays I thought I'd make an early new year's resolution, to get three more items made and listed on Etsy - now I just need to figure out what they are going to be!

Had a great day earlier this week - my friend Holly came over on Tuesday to do some quilting and share the glee of trying something new... I think we both had fun!

more sales!

Well, I've made a few more dollars from my crafting - but not directly through etsy. A few people at work got me to make them some custom items for Christmas presents but I didn't see any point in listing them since I already had the sale made and there wouldn't be any shipping involved. Since I don't have any pictures of them on the computer I'll share this one instead - a Christmas present for my mother-in-law.... happy holidays everyone!

an etsy update!

Well - so far, so good! I've made 1 sale in 10 days, which from what I can tell from reading is a pretty good start for a small shop. I've spend quite a bit of time reading through tips and tricks, "how-to" posts and I've learned quite a few things and figured out I've got some work to do, especially since I'd like to actually turn this into an actual source of income! First up - more product and better photos! Natural light is definitely your friend as you can see from the photo below if you compare it to the others in the etsy listing.

YIPPEEEE!!!!

I made first sale from my etsy shop quiltedchaos!!!! It's a bit of a cheat - one of my good friends in Halifax saw something she just had to have but still - a sale!!!

She just loved this bag.... I do too - I almost kept it *lol*

Well, I finally did it - after talking about it and thinking about it for two years I've finally opened an Etsy shop. Only a few things on it so far but there'll be more soon! Now I just need to find customers!!!

A new (old) sewing machine!

I've inherited a treasure! We had a visit from my parents last weekend and they arrived with my grandmother's treadle singer sewing machine! I checked out the serial number - it's a model 127, built in 1917! It's been floating around the family since my grandfather passed away about 30 years ago and my dad mentioned to my aunt (the most recent caretaker) that if she didn't want to keep it, he knew someone who would love to have it - Me!

So, he took it home from her garage and cleaned it up, got all the parts moving again and fixed up the wobbly bits of the cabinet. I even have a new belt for it - and guess what? It works!!! Thank you Daddy!!!
